Over the last 9 months, IRARA has been working in partnership with IOM Pakistan on the implementation of the project “Strengthening the Government of Pakistan’s Capacities for Countering Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM).” Aligned with national priorities, our goal is to support the government of Pakistan to deliver activities that prevent and protect against TIP and SOM while improving services and support for victims.
In addition to engaging with key stakeholders, offering immediate and long-term assistance to those who have already become victims, and signposting to safe and legal migration pathways, IRARA is also delivering a series of community outreach education sessions. These sessions facilitate direct engagement between stakeholders, local communities, and survivors of TIP and SOM, who share their personal experiences to raise awareness and drive action. By providing valuable insights into the tactics used by traffickers and showcasing the consequences of illegal migration, the project empowers individuals to make informed decisions, safeguarding their future.
Through a combination of immediate relief, long-term support, and proactive education, this partnership is poised to make a significant impact in reducing trafficking and smuggling in Pakistan. The collaboration with IOM is a crucial step in strengthening the response to these complex issues, and IRARA remains committed to supporting both the Government of Pakistan and vulnerable communities in their fight against trafficking and migrant smuggling.
